Beginner Wheel Throwing with Carved Pots
In this class, along with learning wheel throwing basics, you will also learn how to carve designs in your pottery. You will be taught shaping and how to carve one or more of your pots to create design, and interesting features on your pottery pieces.
In our 6 week series, you will learn to make functional pottery from start to finish as well as receive a set of basic high quality tools to keep. Open Studio is available the first 4 weeks to all beginning students 7am - 11pm because practice is strongly recommended. At the end of the 6th week you could have 5-15 finished glazed pots. More than 15 pots could be made but we cannot guarantee you will have time to glaze them all in the final class. Upon completion of this series you will be eligible to continue on into membership and an Intermediate Weekly class or enroll in another Beginner Class series. Each day/time has a different teacher and most of the time a different series project.
Bring a medium-sized towel to lay across your lap. Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Tie long hair back and to reduce frustration, cut long nails short.
Our classes are intended for adults only, but we accept teens 14 years or older. Classes that do not reach the minimum enrollment of 3 students a week prior to the class may be cancelled or rescheduled. In this event, any registered students will be contacted to reschedule their class.
There are no make-up classes, and the first 2 weeks are mandatory to attend because they include all the necessary demos.
Please Note: If you are buying the class for someone else, please add their name and email address in the notes.
